Comment (by carter):

 based on the discussion on the lens thread,
 i have  changed the  CPPHS case in the configure.ac for --with-hs-cpp set
 the Haskell CPP flags to "--cpp --traditional"

 mind you, until those other hard coded cases in the build system are
 addressed (simon m said he'll be helping resolve some of them), doesn't
 change rest of patch :)
