OK. [wiki:GhcKinds/KindInference wiki page] updated, including type
synonym CUSKs as described. I still find that a little wonky, but just in
the concrete syntax, not the semantics.
For what it's worth, my example in comment:34 does seem to require at
least one CUSK -- at least, it does in 7.8.
In any case, I think we're in agreement here about what to do, no?
