 It might be worth stressing that I expect role annotations to be very rare
 in practice. All of GHC uses exactly 0 role annotations. There are
 currently two in `base` (for `Ptr` and `FunPtr`) and I expect only a
 handful more once I ask `libraries at haskell.org` to think about roles.
