Validate has died

Hello Simon,

I'm very sorry about that. I believe last time we ran into a similar 
issue and resolved it in the test runner by first checking if we're in a 
git repo. The latest update doesn't respect that check. I'm having a 
look now and aim to have this either fixed or reverted asap.
