fast test suite failures on OS X with 7.10 RC head

Maybe it's time for a Mac OS X taskforce?

All these unexpected test failures on OS X (see also
https://ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/9389), and OS X specific
tickets in general, could get some more attention:
