Comment:

 This is an issue with the Haskell Platform OSX installer. I've filed the
 report here:

 http://trac.haskell.org/haskell-platform/ticket/174

 The OSX installer for the HP creates a different default cabal
 configuration file which uses a different bindir. The standard default
 config has not changed.
