Comment (by nomeata):

 Looking at some of the performance changes observed. The two benchmarks
 with allocation changes show differences in Core, as expected. (Thunks
 previously bound outside a `joinrec` are now inlined.)

 About those runtime changes: All of these have unchanged Core! So the
 change must be in the libraries… Did not dig deeper yet.
