Comment:

 I strongly agree that we should write down the invariants for ticks, and
 check them in Lint.  Sadly I do not know what they are.  The only people
 who do are Simon Marlow and Peter Wortmann.

 I feel uneasy about the whole tick business being so ill-documented.

 Simon, Peter, can you help please?
