 Ah. Understood re comment:24. I was thinking more in terms of GHC's
 implementation, which does all the chunking already. But you're right that
 we can explain this to users in terms of just two chunks, the non-splicy
 one and then the splicy one, with the caveat that spliciness is
 infectious.
