 I guess Bryan added because it's the only required method to implement
 since `toEncoding` is defined in terms of it.

 However I just read in the GHC user guide that:

 "If no MINIMAL pragma is given in the class declaration, it is just as if
 a pragma {-# MINIMAL op1, op2, ..., opn #-} was given, where the opi are
 the methods (a) that lack a default method in the class declaration..."

 So this means we can just safely remove the pragma.
