 @mgsloan: It would be great if you could work on this.

 Asking @thoughtpolice to comment on the pros/cons of developing hpc
 outside of the GHC repository.

 This should be already fixed in HEAD (#10529).

 I fixed some other issues as well, not sure if you ran into them:
