 If it's working in HEAD and at the tip of the ghc-7.10 branch, I think
 it's safe to close the ticket with a regression test. Given the
 sensitivity of the bug, it might be worth the trouble to make sure that
 the regression test actually fails on, say, 7.10.2-rc1.
