 That is not excatly true, because there is a workaround suggested in
 [http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/9971 your link]: change Trac setting
 `always_notify_updater` into `always_cc_updater`. It adds a commenter to a
 Cc list and then he can remove himself from the list through modifying a
 ticket. All Cc'ed users receive emails, so a commenter is automatically
 have subscription but can dissolve it.
