 Guys, I'm not sure that we deal with this entirely correctly still. Sadly,
 I have no test case other than to tell you that I was just compiling a
 project with 7.10 and I got:

 ghc-stage2: ioManagerWakeup: write: Bad file descriptor
 }}}
