Comment (by refold):

 Very cool! Since these patches don't completely remove the dependency on
 Cabal from GHC, will it be at least possible to allow upgrading to new
 major Cabal versions in GHC point releases? It was annoying that the last
 few Haskell Platform releases had to ship with an old version of cabal-
 install because the Cabal version was fixed by GHC.
