 You don't need to rerun `configure`, but yeah you will need to rebuild the
 stage1 compiler so that it can rebuild the RTS correctly, and `make clean`
 is the easiest way.

 Well that's good to know, at least! I still think our TBAA information is
 wrong for this code, though.
