Comment:

 I also see this as a problem. Right now my procedure for installing GHC on
 Debian Wheezy is:

   - Install GHC 7.4.1 from Wheezy repo to use it for bootstraping
   - Compile the latest stable sources
   - Install compiled GHC
   - remove GHC installed from Wheezy packages

 Not a big problem for me, but I imagine that for many people who want to
 have the latest stable compiler this is discouraging.
