<div>For past few months I’ve been working on <a href="https://gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/ghc/-/wikis/Rebindable-syntax">Rebindable Syntax</a>, specifically on expanding ApplicativeDo (#24406, <a href="https://gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/ghc/-/merge_requests/12066">MR

 !12066</a>) statements before type checking.</div>

<div>I noticed that there is a failing test case related to HIE files (T23540). I have been unsuccessful in debugging why this happens and/or if this has any effect on the users of HIE files.</div>
