Make on Windows gives errors

Several Cabal warnings, including for Cabal itself -- harmless.

The incompatible pointer type warnings are for function pointers, and
harmless.

This is new -- it was a syntax error in a new module, now fixed.

The unix package isn't supposed to build, but this is a clumsy way
to fail.  Currently I test for creat(), but it seems MinGW has that.
