btw These tests use library specs of the form:

  [types_aux.c]

The ffi spec is silent on the form of library specs so this might be
legal and portable - but I wouldn't count on it.  If anyone out there
chooses to use specs of this form, they should expect to have to
change that code sometime in the future.
